– Hampers.

Here at Port Street we like to bring you great beers. It’s what we do best and essentially what we stand for. However there are times when we are not open, you may have prior arrangements or you fancy a night in, in-front of the telly. No need to fret, now you can take a bit of us home with you in the form of a hamper.

We have put together three different ones varying in price. These all come with a stamped glass and start at a measly £17.50 for 6 well selected, crafty beers.

Imagine a night in with one of these badboys, or as a gift to your old man/woman. Great stuff.

– Review : Sierra Nevada Torpedo / By DJ Adams

The start of Port Street Beer House’s American Beer Festival starting Mon 27th June, until the beer runs out, is clearly an ideal time to review Torpedo, an IPA from one of America’s most respected craft beer pioneers Sierra Nevada. We launched the American Beer Festival on Monday 27th June with an intimate ticketed event. Around 60 of you came to sample the beer and helped turn the night into a celebration of all things American. We put on a few snacks, the cornbread in particular had mixed reactions, but overall went down a treat. (more…)

– What Is A Craft Beer? / By Steve Dunkley

To be brutally honest, no-one really knows. There are all sorts of articles and postings on the internet where people claim to know the definition of what a craft brewer is. It’s easy enough to define what an American Craft Brewer is, because they have an association and a definition: Small, Independent and Traditional. But for them small is less than 6 million barrels of beer a year. That’s a whopping 1.7 billion pints. Not sound so whopping? Here’s a bit of maths; in the UK each day 28 million pints of beer are consumed, which equates to 1.02 billion pints a year. And by beer, that’s all beer including lager and even stuff like Tennents Super and Special Brew. (more…)
