Manchester Beer Week
Join us for an Indy Man Beer Con 2016 ticket launch party at Port Street as part of Manchester Beer Week. This will be your first chance to buy tickets for this year’s IMBC (Victoria Baths, 6th-9th October) and will be available on the night in advance of general release. General release tickets will happen at 9pm so get in a whole three hours early – a great chance to secure your place at the winner’s table for those savoured IMBC sessions.
We’re exciting to be hosting the ticket launch (alongside sister pub, The Beagle) for our very own beer festival, Indy Man Beer Con.
To celebrate we are offering up free beer from Against The Grain (Kentucky, USA) and complimentary snacks from everyone’s favourite Indian street food supremos, Bundobust. Keep an eye and ear out for pop-up bottle tastings throughout the evening from Siren Craft Brew, Northern Monk, and Runaway. Manchester Beer Week favourites will also be in full effect across the bar, naturally.
Come along and raise a glass to #IMBC16

– Mad Monk Tap Takeover
Mad Hatter x Northern Monk tap takeover and collaboration launch / Thursday 24th March 2016 / 5pm onward and upward
Very pleased to announce the most exciting meeting of minds since the Leeds-Liverpool canal, which is coincidentally from whence these two breweries hail. Northern Monk (Leeds) and Mad Hatter (Liverpool) combine to become Mad Monk and take over Port Street for one night only.
Primarily Northern Monk and Mad Hatter are here to launch their new collaboration, an 11% Salted Caramel Imperial Mild. Consider our interest levels spiked! We can’t wait to taste it. It’ll be pouring on cask on the night but lo, that is not all…
Both Mad Hatter and Northern Monk will be bringing 3 x kegs apiece and 2 x casks. That’s 11 beers in total (including the collaboration), maths fans. Mad Hatter are rarely making cask beers these days so we can’t wait to see what they bring. Northern Monk, of course, are modern UK caskmasters so we are equally excited for their haul. And that’s to say nothing of the keg! Beer list coming soon…
– PSBH is 5 (and a bit)
Words by James Moffat / PSBH Manager
Remember the days before Port Street? When you’d finish work on a Friday & head straight home & just sit there staring at the wall waiting for someone to invent Netflix? Before you were invited to 9 different events every Saturday by people you haven’t spoken to in person since high school? I still remember my first trip here, long before I ever stepped foot behind the bar, when I came in on my birthday to sample some new beers! Hard to believe that was five years ago.
Anyway.
PORT STREET IS FIVE YEARS OLD!
We got pretty busy in the run up to our birthday travelling around & brewing some beers for you to enjoy at our birthday celebration.
First up was Arbor where we collaborated with them to produce PSBH Bomb. Based on their brilliant Bomb series but this one’s hopped with Pacific gem, Summit, Bravo, mt Hood. We forgot to take any photos of this brew day or we all had broken phones & no one carries a camera these days!
Shortly after we popped down to see Cloudwater & try some of the stuff they had in tank & brain storm some ideas which became a Lapsang Lichtenhainer. Combining our love of smoked & sour beers.
Next up was a double brew day with some of us heading over to Leeds to see Northern Monk to brew an imperial mild, Life On Mild.
Meanwhile, Edward headed down to Squawk on his own to collaborate with Runaway, Squawk & Track on 5 Alive, a pale ale with a big citrus twist!
Lastly. After a long walk up what I’m told is the longest continuous gradient in Europe! We got to see Vocation & brew a massively hopped American pale ale, Lost & Found!
Hope you enjoy them all!
